## Elaboració

### 1 · Escriu la tira on la vol el diari

El codi és [la resposta curta](https://postext.dev/ca/cookbook/newspaper-daily-strip.md#la-resposta-curta) de dalt. Un `:::strip` té el cos d’una pàgina de còmic (el seu `split`, les línies `::panel` i el guió), però és un bloc del text ([tires](https://postext.dev/ca/docs/comics.md#tires)). A la portada, a una columna, la tira de diumenge es compon on és escrita, amb 210 mm d’alt, i el sumari va al darrere. La seva divisió, `55 / * [40 | *]`, dona a l’escena ampla de la pesca una tira pròpia i deixa a baix una fila per als dos acudits. Una tira no es parteix mai: si no hi cap, passa sencera a la pàgina següent.

### 2 · Fes flotar la tira diària sobre les columnes

La pàgina interior s’obre amb un H1 l’estil de títol del qual passa la secció a quatre columnes. La tira diària va just després, amb `span=page placement=bottom`: flota al peu de la pàgina amb l’amplada de les quatre columnes, i les columnes de l’article acaben igualades a sobre. Sense `height` ni `aspect`, una tira pren la forma que fa quadrades les seves vinyetes, aquí quatre a un. Amb `placement=top` obriria la pàgina següent, perquè un flotant no puja mai per sobre del punt on s’escriu.

Les imatges es van dibuixar quadrades o apaïsades, i les cel·les de la divisió de diumenge no ho són: l’acudit de la bota cau en una cel·la de 112 × 88 mm. Cada zona segura es retalla al que necessita l’acudit, en Pip, l’Otto i la bota, perquè l’enquadrament no deixi mai bandes ([vinyetes i imatges](https://postext.dev/ca/docs/comics.md#vinyetes-i-imatges)).

Cada edició compon el diari amb lletres per a la seva escriptura i retola les tires amb les seves pròpies lletres de còmic. Les bafarades japoneses van en vertical. Les edicions japonesa i àrab llegeixen les tires de dreta a esquerra, així que les vinyetes de cada fila canvien de lloc; l’àrab, composta de dreta a esquerra, inverteix a més les columnes de la pàgina. Ines Barlow dibuixa un pingüí i una morsa cada matí de dilluns a divendres a la taula de la cuina de casa seva, a Saltmarsh Lane, i ja fa deu anys que ho fa. *En Pip i l’Otto* va sortir per primer cop al Despatx el 17 d’octubre de 2016, encaixada sota els mots encreuats. Avui es publica en onze diaris i en sis idiomes, i encara cap en quatre vinyetes quadrades.

«La regla és que l’acudit ha de caure a la quarta vinyeta, ni una abans», diu Barlow. «Si l’Otto fa gràcia a la segona, he llençat la tira». En Pip és petit, educat i sempre té gana. L’Otto porta una fleca sobre un glaç, va a treballar amb corbatí i mai no ha donat una resposta directa. Els lectors escriuen a tots dos, tot i que la majoria de les cartes són per a l’Otto.

Barlow va créixer a sobre de la fleca dels seus pares a Harrow Road, i d’aquí surten els croissants. El pingüí va arribar més tard, d’una postal que la seva àvia li va enviar des de Ciutat del Cap. «Vaig dibuixar en Pip al revers d’un talonari de comandes quan tenia nou anys. Ja duia la bufanda. L’Otto em va costar vint anys més».

Va enviar les sis primeres tires al Despatx l’estiu del 2016, amb una carta de presentació d’una sola línia. El responsable de còmics d’aleshores, Martin Fry, les va publicar a prova durant un mes. La prova no s’ha acabat. Fry, ja jubilat, encara rep la tira per correu un dia abans. «M’avisa quan un acudit fluixeja», diu Barlow. «Gairebé sempre té raó».

La feina comença el dilluns amb cinc esbossos a llapis en fulls DIN A4, quatre requadres per full. El dimecres ja estan entintats i acolorits. Els dibuixos arriben al diari sense cap paraula; el text va a part, en un guió breu: qui parla, a quina vinyeta i què diu. Cada onomatopeia té la seva pròpia línia.

El costum va començar amb l’edició francesa, el 2019. «Retolar una tira dues vegades a mà era una setmana de feina», explica. «Ara cada diari compon el text en el seu idioma i les bafarades es dibuixen al voltant». Els diaris catalans reben «Acabat de sortir del forn!»; l’edició japonesa compon les bafarades en columnes verticals i, com l’àrab, llegeix les vinyetes de dreta a esquerra. Els dibuixos no canvien mai.

La tira del diumenge és l’excepció a la regla de les quatre vinyetes. Ocupa mitja pàgina, en color, i Barlow la tracta com un conte curt: tres vinyetes, un acudit més lent i gairebé sempre un peix. La d’aquesta setmana és a la portada.

Què els espera ara? «L’Otto aprendrà a patinar», diu Barlow. «No li agradarà».

## Errors freqüents

- **Qualsevol objecte headings desactiva el salt de pàgina de l'H1.** Per defecte un H1 salta a una pàgina senar (always-odd), però qualsevol objecte headings anul·la aquest valor, de manera que els capítols van seguits i span: 'page' no fa res. Torna a declarar headings.levels[0].breakBefore: { enabled: true, parity } a cada configuració.
- **Carrega totes les fonts abans de compondre.** La composició mesura el text amb les fonts que el navegador ha carregat i en desa les amplades, així que una font que arriba després de la primera composició deixa talls de línia erronis i un PDF que ja no coincideix amb la pantalla. Carrega abans tots els pesos i estils, i crida clearMeasurementCache() abans de recompondre si alguna arriba tard.
- **Un flotant 'top' no cau mai a la pàgina que el cita.** Un flotant no va mai per sobre de la seva pròpia referència, així que un flotant 'top' a tota l'amplada citat a la pàgina N obre la pàgina N+1. Cita'l abans, o fes servir la posició 'auto' o 'bottom', que poden ocupar el peu de la pàgina que el cita.

- La capçalera de la secció la dibuixa la capçalera de pàgina, no un H1 amb obertura, així que damunt de la tira de la portada només hi ha la línia del foli.
