## かんたんな説明

新聞の漫画面の2ページ。表紙は大きなカラー漫画、中面は漫画家へのインタビューを4段で組み、ページの下に毎日の4コマ漫画を置きます。

## できあがり

週末の新聞『コリントン・デスパッチ』の漫画別刷りで、230 × 310 mmに折ってあります。表紙は『ピップとオットー』の日曜版の半ページ。流氷の上でパン屋を営むペンギンとセイウチの話で、下に目次を置きます。中面は漫画家へのインタビューを4段で組み、読者の手紙と広告を添え、その週の4コマ（正方形のコマが四つ）をページの下に通します。どちらの漫画も新聞の本文にある`:::strip`のブロックで、別刷りは六言語で出ます。

## 作り方

### 1 · 新聞が置きたい場所に漫画を書く

コードは前の[手短な答え](https://postext.dev/ja/cookbook/newspaper-daily-strip.md#手短な答え)にあります。`:::strip`の中身は漫画のページと同じ（`split`、`::panel`の行、台本）ですが、本文の中のブロックです（[帯漫画](https://postext.dev/ja/docs/comics.md#帯漫画)）。1段組みの表紙では、日曜版は書かれた位置に高さ210 mmで組まれ、目次がその後に続きます。割り方`55 / * [40 | *]`で、横長の釣りの場面に1段を使い、二つのギャグをその下に並べます。帯漫画は分割されません。入らなければ、まるごと次のページへ移ります。

### 2 · 毎日の4コマを段の上にフロートさせる

中面はH1で始まり、その見出しスタイルがこの節を4段組みに切り替えます。4コマはそのすぐ後に`span=page placement=bottom`で書きます。4段ぶんの幅でページの下にフロートし、記事の段はその上でそろって終わります。`height`も`aspect`もなければ、帯漫画はコマが正方形になる比率をとり、ここでは4対1です。`placement=top`と書くと次のページの頭に出ます。フロートは、書かれた位置より上には行かないからです。

絵は正方形か横長に描かれていますが、日曜版の割り方のセルはそうではありません。長靴のギャグは112 × 88 mmのセルに入ります。セーフエリアはギャグに必要なもの（ピップ、オットー、長靴）だけに絞ってあるので、トリミングで余白が出ることはありません（[コマと絵](https://postext.dev/ja/docs/comics.md#コマと絵)）。

各版はその文字に合った書体で新聞を組み、それぞれの漫画用書体で写植します。日本語の吹き出しは縦書き。日本語版とアラビア語版は漫画を右から左へ読むので、各段のコマの並びが左右逆になります。右から左へ組むアラビア語版では、ページの段も左右が逆になります。絵と割り方は同じで、変わるのは`content.<lang>.md`だけです（[読む方向](https://postext.dev/ja/docs/comics.md#読む方向)）。

## レシピの全体

レシピのフォルダーから合成した1つのファイルで、サンプルのテキストとレシピ集の共通キットを埋め込んであり、自分でページを組み立てます。動かすには、空のページの`<script type="module">`に入れるか、新しいCodePenのpenのJSパネルに貼り付けます（モジュールとして）。esm.shからpostextを読み込むので、インストールもビルドも要りません。

イネス・バーロウは平日の毎朝、ソルトマーシュ通りの自宅の台所のテーブルでペンギンとセイウチを描く。もう10年になる。『ピップとオットー』は2016年10月17日、クロスワードの下に押しこまれる形で本紙に初めて載った。いまは11の新聞に6つの言語で連載されているが、いまも四つの正方形のコマに収まっている。

「笑いは4コマ目で落とすこと。それより前はだめ」とバーロウは言う。「2コマ目でオットーが面白かったら、その日の漫画はむだになる」。ピップは小さくて礼儀正しく、いつもおなかをすかせている。オットーは流氷の上でパン屋を営み、蝶ネクタイをして店に出て、まっすぐな答えを返したことが一度もない。読者は二人に手紙を書くが、ほとんどはオットーあてだ。

バーロウはハロー通りにある両親のパン屋の2階で育った。クロワッサンはそこから来ている。ペンギンはもっと後で、祖母がケープタウンから送ってくれた絵はがきから生まれた。「9歳のとき、注文帳の裏にピップを描いたの。もうマフラーをしていた。オットーにはそれから20年かかった」

2016年の夏、彼女は最初の6本を本紙に送った。添え状は1行だけだった。当時の漫画担当マーティン・フライは、1か月の試験掲載を決めた。その試験はまだ終わっていない。いまは引退したフライのもとには、今も1日早く郵便で漫画が届く。「弱い笑いがあると教えてくれる」とバーロウ。「たいてい当たっている」

作業は月曜日、A4の紙に鉛筆で5枚の下描きを描くことから始まる。1枚に4コマずつだ。水曜日にはペン入れと色塗りが終わる。絵は文字のない状態で新聞社に送られ、言葉は短い台本として別に送られる。だれが、どのコマで、何を言うか。描き文字も1行ずつ書く。

この習慣は2019年のフランス語版から始まった。「1本の漫画に手で2回文字を入れると、1週間仕事になる」と彼女は言う。「いまは各新聞が自分の言語で文字を組み、そのまわりに吹き出しを描く」。スペインの新聞には「¡Recién salido del horno!」が届き、日本語版は吹き出しを縦書きで組み、アラビア語版と同じくコマを右から左へ読む。絵は決して変わらない。

日曜版は4コマの決まりの例外だ。カラーで半ページを使い、バーロウはそれを短い物語として描く。3コマで、笑いはゆっくりで、たいてい魚が出てくる。今週の日曜版は表紙に載っている。

## よくあるつまずき

- **headingsオブジェクトを渡すとH1の改ページが消える.** 既定ではH1は奇数ページへ改ページします（always-odd）。ところがheadingsオブジェクトを渡すと中身にかかわらずこの既定がリセットされ、章は改ページせずに続けて組まれ、span: 'page'も効かなくなります。どの設定でもheadings.levels[0].breakBefore: { enabled: true, parity }を書き直してください。
- **レイアウトの前にすべてのフォントを読み込む.** レイアウトはブラウザーが読み込んだフォントで文字を計測し、その幅をキャッシュします。最初のビルドのあとに届いたフォントがあると改行位置が狂い、PDFも画面と一致しなくなります。すべてのウェイトとスタイルを先に読み込み、遅れて届いたときは再ビルドの前にclearMeasurementCache()を呼んでください。
- **'top'のフロートは参照したページには入らない.** フロートが自分の参照より上に置かれることはありません。そのため、Nページで参照したページ幅の'top'フロートはN+1ページの頭に置かれます。もっと前で参照するか、参照したページの下端に入れる位置'auto'または'bottom'を使ってください。

- 題字はページのヘッダーが描いていて、扉デザインのあるH1ではありません。そのため表紙の漫画の上にはノンブルの行しかありません。
- セーフエリアがセルの形より横に広いと、絵の上下にコマの地色の余白が出て、`comicPanelLetterbox`の警告が出ます。
