かんたんな説明

歌人の石川啄木が1909年に日本語をローマ字で書いた日記の最初の日付を組みます。各段落の下には、かなと漢字で書いた読みが入ります。

できあがり

石川啄木が1909年の春に東京でつけた日記『ローマ字日記』(Rōmaji nikki)の4ページです。妻に読まれないよう、啄木はこの日記をローマ字で書きました。組むのは手帳の表題の行と、最初の日付である4月7日の記述、「Kanasii koto da!」までです。日記はA5判の研究用の版として組みます。ローマ字はSource Serif 4で両端そろえにし、ハイフネーションは一切しません。各段落の下には、かなと漢字による読みをNoto Serif JPで、小さく、細く、字下げして入れます。啄木の綴りは日本式で(si、tu、hu)、長母音にはサーカムフレックスを付けます(Tôkyô)。編者の行は長音記号(マクロン)付きのヘボン式(Rōmaji)で、どちらもPDFまで届きます。

作り方

#1 · 文章にja-Latnのタグを付ける

コードは上の手短な答えにあります。ja-Latnは、ラテン文字で書いた日本語を表すBCP 47のタグです。言語はjaなので、各段落の下の読みには日本語の規則が適用されます。禁則処理、句読点(、。)の空き、そして「ええ! ええ!」のように文中の!のあとにエンジンが加える全角スペースです。日本語にはハイフネーションのパターンがないので、ローマ字は分割されません。enにすると英語のパターンがtatinobottaやSurigarasuのような語を、日本語の読み手が聞く拍ではなく英語の音節で分割してしまいます。ハイフンがないぶん語間が余りを吸収するので、行長は約70字、maxWordSpacingは1.8にしています(ハイフネーション)。

Fontsourceは、ō ū āを専用のlatin-extファイルに分けています。画面はそれを読み込み(loadFontsがサンプルのōを見つけます)、キットのcjkPdfProviderもPDF用に同じことをします。このプロバイダーはNoto Serif JPを日本語用の分割ファイルから提供し、latin-extにしかない文字をラテン文字の書体が組むときは、latin、次にlatin-extの2つのファイルを返します。postext-pdfは、各グリフをそれを持つ最初のファイルから取ります。キットの素のfontsourceProviderはPDFにlatinファイルしか渡さないので、それを使うとPDFにōのグリフがなくなります。

狭い段でハイフンが必要なら、ローマ字の拍の切れ目にソフトハイフン(U+00AD)を入れます。コードではSu\u00adna-ho\u00adko\u00adriと書き、本文ではU+00ADを直接入力します。ja-Latnのタグを付けた文書が自分からハイフネーションすることはありませんが、語が収まらないときはソフトハイフンの位置で改行します。

日本語のテキストのタグは'ja'。zh-HansやLANGにしない

レシピの版はenとesですが、日本語のサンプルはどちらの版でも日本語です。`locale: LANG`では英語やスペイン語とタグ付けされ、中国語のタグでは中国語の規則で組まれます(開明式の約物、小書きの仮名が行頭に来てもよい、図の代わりに图、PDFでは中国の字形)。'ja'と書いてください。日本の地域(JLReqの改行と約物、ゴマの圏点、ルビの間隔、図と表の表示名)が選ばれ、ハイフネーションが切られます。リントは、zhやkoのタグで仮名を含むテキストをエラーにします。 日本語の改行(禁則処理) →

日本語は日本語の書体で組む

Noto Serif SCとTCは仮名を持っていますが、漢字は中国の字形(直、骨、角が異なります)で、仮名も中国のデザインで描きます。本文はNoto Serif JPかShippori Mincho B1、見出しはNoto Sans JPで組み、loadCjkFontsで読み込んでください。Fontsourceの日本語ファイルには変体仮名などの古い仮名(U+1B000–1B16F)がないため、loadCjkFontsはそこで失敗し、PDFには四角が印字されます。現代の仮名で書くか、それを持つ書体をレシピのassetsに同梱してください。Shippori Minchoにはマクロン付きの母音ōとūもないので、ローマ字はラテン文字の書体で組んでください。 仮名、漢字、ローマ字 →

中国語の書体はcjkブロックを通じてスライス単位で読み込む

Fontsourceは中国語、日本語、韓国語のファミリーを、ウェイトごとに約100個のファイルとして配信し、各ファイルが文字の範囲を受け持ちます。loadFontsが取得するのはlatinファイルだけなので、画面では漢字がシステムの書体で出て計測が狂い、fontsourceProviderはPDFにそのlatinファイルを渡すため、漢字が空の四角で印字されます。キットのcjkブロックを挙げ、loadFontsのあとにloadCjkFonts(FONTS, markdown)を呼び(本で複数のCJK書体を使うときは、それぞれの書体で組むテキストを渡して書体ごとに1回)、renderToPdfにfontProvider: cjkPdfProviderを渡してください。どちらもテキストの文字を含むファイルを取得します。 中国語・日本語・韓国語のフォント →

headingsオブジェクトを渡すとH1の改ページが消える

既定ではH1は奇数ページへ改ページします(always-odd)。ところがheadingsオブジェクトを渡すと中身にかかわらずこの既定がリセットされ、章は改ページせずに続けて組まれ、span: 'page'も効かなくなります。どの設定でもheadings.levels[0].breakBefore: { enabled: true, parity }を書き直してください。 奇数ページから始まる章 →

設定はオブジェクトの同一性でキャッシュされる。毎回新しいオブジェクトを作る

レイアウトの前にすべてのフォントを読み込む

レイアウトはブラウザーが読み込んだフォントで文字を計測し、その幅をキャッシュします。最初のビルドのあとに届いたフォントがあると改行位置が狂い、PDFも画面と一致しなくなります。すべてのウェイトとスタイルを先に読み込み、遅れて届いたときは再ビルドの前にclearMeasurementCache()を呼んでください。 レイアウト前のフォント読み込み →

  • Shippori Minchoにはōもūもありません。Noto Serif JPとSource Serif 4は、それをlatin-extのファイルに持っています。ヘボン式の文章に使う書体は、選ぶ前に確かめてください。
  • ラテン文字で書いた中国語はピンインで、すべての字にピンインを振った初級読本では漢字の上にルビとして組んでいます。啄木のローマ字はそれ自体が本文なので、注釈としてではなく、固有の語間を持つラテン文字の文章として組みます。
