Lo que vas a componer

El primer capítulo de La luz de Porthcove: una portada y dos páginas de cómic, maquetadas una vez y exportadas de cuatro maneras. El PDF es para imprenta. El EPUB de maqueta fija conserva las páginas impresas y lleva navegación por regiones, así que un lector electrónico puede mostrar el libro viñeta a viñeta, saltando de la llegada al faro a la radio y luego a Maya. Un segundo EPUB fijo añade Kindle Panel View; el adaptable compone cada viñeta como su imagen recortada seguida de sus diálogos. La página lista cada archivo tal como lo abrirá un lector, con su enlace de descarga, en seis idiomas.

#1 · Exporta el mismo documento como EPUB

El código es la respuesta corta de arriba. renderToEpub recibe los documentos que imprime renderToPdf, así que las páginas del EPUB son las del PDF (salida de los cómics). Con layout: 'fixed' y páginas de cómic en el libro, escribe además regions.xhtml: una región panel por viñeta en orden de lectura, cada una un rectángulo en porcentaje de su página, con sus bocadillos, cartelas y onomatopeyas como regiones dentro. El sentido de paso de página sigue el sentido de lectura del cómic, así que las ediciones japonesa y árabe pasan de derecha a izquierda. kindlePanelView: true añade una zona táctil por viñeta y una copia ampliada, con los metadatos que espera Kindle. La versión adaptable no tiene páginas que conservar: cada viñeta es su imagen, recortada como en la página, y luego sus diálogos, «Maya: ¡Biscuit! ¿Y el abuelo?», con los nombres de comics.cast.

Un EPUB de maqueta fija dibuja el texto con las letras que lleva dentro, y una letra que falta se sustituye por la del lector. La rotulación pide redonda, negrita y cursiva; las letras de cómic traen menos, así que cada petición recibe el archivo que eligió loadComicFonts, y un archivo que sirve a los dos pesos entra una sola vez con el rango '400 700'. Las letras japonesas y chinas solo llevan los trozos con los caracteres de su edición, lo que deja el libro japonés en 1,4 MB.

readEpub abre los bytes como lo haría un lector: maqueta, sentido de paso, columna vertebral. La lista de cada tarjeta es la propia lectura guiada, leída de regions.xhtml: cinco viñetas y sus regiones de texto, en el orden en que el lector las recorre. Los tres archivos pasan EPUBCheck 5.4 sin errores ni avisos en inglés, japonés y árabe.

La composición mide el texto con las fuentes que el navegador ha cargado y guarda los anchos, así que una fuente que llega después de la primera composición deja cortes de línea erróneos y un PDF que ya no coincide con la pantalla.
